Last weekend my mom and I decided to head over to the port, where there's a market held every Sunday of the month. We woke up and, after having breakfast, we decided that the weather was so damn good for an October day that we had to go outside.
Even though I love autumnal weather and foggy, cold mornings, the sky was too blue to stay indoors, and there was a certain cheeriness in the air that put a spring to our footsteps and a smile on our lips.
This market is placed in Malaga's port, as near to the sea as you can get, and let me tell you, it is lovely. With the sea to our right, the shops to our left, and the mountains looming at our back, the spot couldn't be more charming.
We started strolling down the promenade, taking our time looking at the racks of vintage clothing and the stalls of old jewelry. The salty breeze tangled my hair and cleared my skin, while the sun up above warmed me from head to toe. I couldn't help stopping every two seconds to take photographs, because the light was simply amazing, the sky too blue and the people so happy that I wanted to capture everything with my camera. The palm trees danced with the gentle wind and the Alcazaba surrounded us, watching over the sea and remembering its own history.

I was basking in the moment. The difficult summer I had had and my upcoming exam were just a flickering worry at the back of my mind. How could I feel bad on such a day? I was out and about with my mom, who has given me nothing but love and support these past few months, and we were having a wonderful time spying on all the antique goodies displayed in the different stalls. It's days like this that remind me that there's hope. When you least expect it, you feel contented and at peace with your own mind again, and you know that everything will end up turning just right.
This market is a great way for underground shops and businesses to make themselves known: the pretty looking stalls and the nice street vendors make you want to buy everything! I certainly put my eye on more than one item...
Jewelry, accessories, clothes, bags, home decorations, food, perfumes... You can get really special things in this place. If you ever come to Málaga, you can't miss it!
These cheeses look delicious, right? We bought one, and it was gone the day after. We're a family of gluttons, and we do love cheese with a passion. The only bad thing about this market is that it lacks street-food stalls. With the amazing products we have and the gastronomical culture of this city, there would be no room at the port on Sundays, every cobblestone would be filled with people enjoying the weather and the delicious street-food in the best company! Certainly something to improve.
I got a pair of earrings from one of these stalls, and oh boy, am I in love with them. I've always enjoyed wearing really big, vintage looking earrings, like the ones you see princesses in movies wearing, and so this market is absolute heaven for me. I spent a long time deciding which one I was going to take home with me, because everything they had was so beautiful and unique that I wanted to buy it all.
I had previously gotten a bracelet from this same stall like, five or six months before, and I wear it a lot. It doesn't matter where I'm going or what I'm wearing, I'm just classy like that. It is really similar to the middle one you can see in the left photograph.
As lunchtime was creeping upon us, we sat at a bar to drink some cool soft-drinks and to eat our tapas. You can't come to Spain and not eat tapas. It's mandatory. I sat there, talking with my mom and looking at the boats at the dock: I couldn't stop thinking how nice it would be to hop on in one of them and take off on an adventure. We could see the entrance to the Pompidou Museum right opposite the dock, and we marveled at the fact that we had pieces of art resting right beneath our feet. This feeling of ease accompanied us to our car, and while we drove home with the warmth of the sun still lingering in our skin, we sang silly songs from the eighties that were playing on the radio. There's no wrong time to sing songs from the eighties.
